Inspired straw braid fronds.

This vintage straw braid frond has been pinned to my idea and inspiration board for many years. It is too intricate and labor intensive to duplicate for work in my studio.

Here I have adapted the frond idea to create a version using my sewing machine and minimal hand work – a dramatic ornament for use in my millinery work using contemporary materials. A creative and curious facet of my professional work as a millinery designer.
